Yessss. Audiobooks have saved me multiple times, too.

I’ve realized that if I’m struggling to read a book, I just don’t like it that much. Because otherwise I actually finish books quickly.

Yes! A lot of times, the book is the issue. This is why I believe in quitting books when they just aren’t doing it for you.

It's a slow reading month for me. It is taking me longer to read Prophet Song by Paul Lynch and I think it i because it is so reflective of the current state of world politics which means a lot to me. It's quietly (and sometimes loudly) terrifying and dystopian. And the language is just so beautiful. So I am still on it. Maybe it's also because I just resumed uni for my final year and academics is taking the center stage. For the first time I am reading two books at the same time. My second read: Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. I'm in a sticky place with my faith and I thought to read a somewhat intellectual defense of the Christian faith. 50 pages in and I am loving it!

I really have to get into reading poetry. I know it will blow my socks off.

Great post as usual, my love. You're such a reflective person. Love ya!

Sometimes we have to take books slowly, especially when they deal with difficult topics. Reading more than one book at a time can be so fun. For me, it has to be fiction and nonfiction though. How’s that going for you? I’m glad you’re enjoying the C.S Lewis book so far and hope you get something out of it. Yes! Start reading poetry and thank you so much for reading and always supporting me. I love you too 🫶🏾

So it’s not just me!!!😭😭

I’ve been in one hell of a reading slump too. Even one of my friends who usually motivates me couldn’t get me going, and I managed to read only three books this month.

Normally, I snap out of slumps by reading my favorite genres, but even that trick failed me this time (and I think it was just the month). Or the air. lol)

As for poetry, I'm a huge fan. I have this belief (a bit unpopular, maybe) that poetry doesn’t always need to make sense right away.

Sometimes, it clicks only when you’re going through a certain period in your life, and even then, the meaning you find may be different from what the poet intended. That’s the beauty of it! And agree with your term too🤍

I’m also excited to dive into a Freida McFadden book soon. Hopefully, it’ll pull me out of this slump.

Amen and you too.🤗 Thanks for the question prompts, and this was a nice piece. Looking forward to hearing about your November reading month.🤍

No, you're not alone with the reading slump 😭 I think something I struggled with in poetry reading was not immediately understanding, or not understanding at all, what the poem was saying. Now, I agree with this belief of yours. It makes the process much more fun. I hope the Freida McFadden book does it for you and thank you so so much for reading and commenting! I loved reading your reply <3
